Another day, another release. The changes are specified in the ReadMe file, but one thing I want to write about is a minor overhaul of the cached attachments handling. Take a look at the new Cached Attachments window:
If you don't see the new toolbar icons, select “Customize Toolbar” and drag the default set to the toolbar. The preview drawer is a new feature. It allows you to see what image or movie there is behind the filename. There are now two ways to deal with cached attachments (apart from the obvious delete command).
One way is to reuse a previously uploaded item, with which ecto will insert the attachment into the frontmost draft or a new draft, allowing you to change the underlying image or movie link and tag properties (but no conversion or resizing). No new upload will happen except for thumbnails.
If you choose the “Insert in Draft” command, the attachment will be added as a new file. This means that it will be uploaded again. This command is useful if you need to resize or convert an image or if you want to upload it to a different blog.
With respect to file uploads, if you choose to use text links, the “title” field will become the link text if it is not empty. Otherwise the filename is used.
Some other minor points:
- The bookmarklet javascript didn't handle Unicode characters properly. Version 2.0.8 has a newer bookmarklet that fixes this. You'll have to reinstall it.
- The draft window's text areas now support word completion again (it was broken in earlier versions). This is a neat way to autocomplete text you type.
- This version has even smarter line-break handling. Well... that's what I hope!

Excerpt: So, I hate authoring any lengthy content in a webpage. Way back when, that was one of the big reasons not to use MT. I'm a big fan of "rich client" applications instead. Think iTunes Music Store. Think Ofoto Express for Mac. :) In comes ecto . This the follow-on to kung-log, and it basically gives you your beautiful, handy Macintosh UI while composing entries that get posted to your MT site. No fussing with webpages and editing fields that are too small to use. No big chance of losing your
